10 Years of Makarun – A Decade of Flavor and Memories

 

This May we celebrated a very special milestone – the 10th anniversary of Makarun restaurant. Ten years of passion, stories, and thousands of guests who have shared unforgettable dinners with us in the heart of Split.

When we first opened our doors in 2015, our vision was simple – to create a place where traditional Dalmatian cuisine meets a modern approach, always highlighting fresh local ingredients and the best Croatian wines. Today, a decade later, we are proud that Makarun has become more than just a restaurant – it has grown into a culinary destination recommended by travelers from all over the world.

We marked the anniversary in our courtyard with signature dishes from our kitchen – from lobster with makaruni pasta to freshly caught fish prepared on the grill to plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Alongside excellent Croatian wines, the evening came alive with a DJ playing a mix of local and international hits, creating a vibrant atmosphere of laughter, dancing, and celebration late into the night.

It was a moment to look back on the journey – from our very first guests, through the many challenges of hospitality, to the proud moments when our chefs created dishes that have become the signature of Makarun. We are especially grateful to our team, because without their passion and dedication this story would not have been possible.

The celebration of 10 years of Makarun is not the end, but a new beginning. In the years ahead, we want to continue highlighting the authenticity of Dalmatian cuisine, bringing in fresh ideas and experiences, and creating unforgettable memories for all who join us.
